Robert B. Williams, Founding Member
Mr. Williams has over 34 years of experience in the retail shopping center industry and has been involved in projects valued in excess of $3.5 B. His primary areas of expertise include leasing, development leasing, merchandising and operations management.
Prior to the formation of Meritage Retail Investment Advisors, LLC, Mr. Williams spent 26 years with Westcor, Arizona’s premier retail development company. Starting in onsite property management he ultimately became its Executive Vice President overseeing the Leasing, Management, Marketing, Lease Administration and Tenant Coordination functions for the entire Westcor portfolio which included 9 regional shopping centers, and 18 urban villages valued in excess of $2.5B with over 15 million square feet.
In 2002 Westcor was purchased by The Macerich Company, a publicly traded (NYSE) real estate investment trust. Shortly after the acquisition Westcor, operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of The Macerich Company, launched Phoenix 20/20 a high level strategic initiative focused on the successful execution of Westcor’s large retail development pipeline. Mr. Williams was identified as a key player to lead this effort and assumed the newly created role of Senior Vice President of Development Leasing. In this role he was responsible for all aspects of retail leasing, including management of the leasing team, overseeing strategic merchandising plans and functioning as an integral member of the development team with focus on design, layout and value maximization.
As a key member within both the Westcor and Macerich development teams Mr. Williams was directly responsible for the successful opening of over 5,000,000 square feet of ground up and/or redevelopment retail projects valued in excess of $1B of value. Flagship assets such as Scottsdale Fashion Square (Scottsdale, AZ), Flatiron Crossing, (Broomfield, CO), Chandler Fashion Center (Chandler, AZ) and SanTan Village (Gilbert, AZ) are indicative of the quality and scale of assets Mr. Williams has been involved with.
